Gold Canyon D.O.G. was created on August 16, 2003 by a small group of dog owners sharing the vision of an off-leash park in the area.

Gold Canyon D.O.G. and the City of Apache Junction are working together on the Silly Mountain Park Project, which will have a 4.5 acre dog park.

Gold Canyon is located on the eastern rim of the Phoenix Metropolitan area, at the foothills of the majestic and scenic Superstition Mountains. It is adjacent to thousands of acres of State Trust Land and National Forest. The community is easily accessible by US 60, the Superstition Highway.

Gold Canyon is a planned, family-oriented community of about 12,000 residents. The closest off-leash dog park is COSMO Dog Park, in Gilbert, 22 miles from Gold Canyon.
